Monte Albán

Monte Albán èra una vila mesoamericana situada a dètz quilomètres de la vila actuala d'Oaxaca. Foguèt fondada vèrs 500 avC a la cima d'una montanha per la civilizacion olmèca ò per un pòble fòrça influenciat per leis Olmècs. De 200 a 600, foguèt lo centre principau de la civilizacion zapotèca avans de declinar fins a son abandon au sègle VII per de rasons desconegudas (invasions, crisi agricòla...). Pasmens, au sègle XII, lei Mistècs conquistèron la region e decidiguèron de restaurar la vila que venguèt un centre religiós major dau Periòde Postclassic. I demorèron fins a la conquista espanhòla qu'entraïnèt l'abandon definitiu de la ciutat.

Après son abandon, la ciutat foguèt oblidada fins au començament dau sègle XIX e a sa redescubèrta per Guillermo Dupaix. Dins lo corrent d'aqueu sègle, foguèt l'objècte d'unei missions arqueologicas. Permetèron de descubrir e d'identificar, una plaça centrala, doas plataformas dins lo nòrd e lo sud de la ciutat, un nombre important de piramidas e d'ensems de bastiments (designats per de letras), un terren de jòc de bala, diferenteis estèlas e d'ensems de tombas. Trobèron tanben d'esculturas fòrça ancianas dichas Danzantes que representan de personatges ambé de còrs tòrts. La significacion d'aqueleis imatges es desconeguda (dança, jòc de bala, presoniers, sacrificis umans...).

Fantastic archeological site. Bring water and plan on spending a few hours in the sun: the place is huge.

Visit Monte Alban early (before 10am) and enjoy the place with almost no visitors (groups). Perfect if you want to take pictures of the temples without tourist.

Breathtaking site!! A must if you are nearby ♥ go there early and have it for yourself plus you avoid the strongest sun :D

Incredible and worth suffering their dumb COVID hours and daily total capacity rule. I got there two hours before open and was 5th in line. At 12:30 I saw people walk right up and get in w/o a wait.
